Although Gabrielle Lask isn't often a big spender, she was unable to "shake off" the chance to see Taylor Swift live with her mother when she got the chance to get two tickets for the singer's The Eras Tour for $4,000.

It's a lot of money, Lask remarks. I was really excited to see that show, but I don't think I've ever spent that much money on anything in my life. When my mother gave me tickets to the Fearless tour for my eleventh birthday, it would be a complete circle for us to reunite.

How Lask Satisfied the Expense

Initially, Lask, 24, and her mother attempted to buy tickets via the Capital One cardholder presale programme, which purportedly provided ticket prices as low as $49

After that failed, according to Lask, they attempted a number of other methods in an attempt to obtain tickets until contacting a ticket broker who was able to provide them with unrestricted, 300-level seats for $2,000 apiece.

Lask claims that she had to take $3,000 out of her savings account in order to pay for the tickets. Her mother covered Lask's flight from Florida to St. Louis, where they met, and the remaining $1,000 so that they could travel to Chicago for the concert together. After the show, her mother also covered the cost of the hotel stay.

Resale Ticket Prices Have Blown Away Even though the artist has been adding new tour dates, resale ticket prices have soared, proving that Lask wasn't the only fan spending thousands on tickets to The Eras Tour.

Swift revealed earlier this month a set of previously undisclosed North American dates that will take place in Miami, New Orleans, Indiana, and Canada through November. She will then take the show overseas after that.

SeatGeek reports that at the time of publication, the average price paid for a concert ticket at resale was $1,619. In contrast, this year's average price for a resold concert ticket is almost $245.

According to Chris Leyden, director of growth marketing at SeatGeek, "the fact that Swift is attracting this kind of demand while performing at the biggest venues in the nation makes (her ticket sales) even more impressive." "The demand for Taylor's Eras Tour tickets has not decreased, even though she almost broke the internet with her ticket sales."

Fans Spent Much More Than They Had To

Even those fans who were able to purchase their tickets at a discount during the presale frequently overspent.

But Swift might face competition in terms of how much fans are willing to spend on concert tickets. According to a recent InvestorsObserver study, Beyoncé fans were spending an average of $1,800 per to see her play, which is roughly $300 more than Swifties spent on average.

But for some people, paying four figures for a concert is simply too much. Due to exorbitant ticket costs, almost 70% of customers recently told LendingTree that they decided not to watch their favourite musicians.

"I couldn't miss it because she is my favourite artist and she has released so much new music since her last tour," Lask claims. "I cried several times because it was so amazing." Being there following the struggle and not knowing if you would get tickets made it seem strange. I was totally in shock that I was there.
